Fast and Loose: Bacon Cheeseburger Fries

Bacon Cheeseburger Fries I don’t know what exactly put me in the mood or the mind for bacon cheeseburger fries, but once the idea took hold, I knew that I needed to do something about it, especially when I thought back to the cheeseburger pizza I’ve made in the past. So, here are the results, a recipe.

This was created on a work night, so that meant starting with frozen fries, but this dish could easily be created with regular fried potatoes.

Cooked fries waiting to be topped

The recipe is simple. Make the fries and then top them with a bacon cheeseburger topping. In this case, I made the bacon first, cutting it into small pieces and cooking it.  I put the bacon aside, then used the bacon grease to cook some onions. Then, I added the hamburger meat to the onion/grease and cooked it. Once that was done, I added ketchup and mustard to get that cheeseburger flavor going.

Cooking the bacon

While I was doing this, I was frying the fries, removing them from the oil and letting them get rid of any excess oil as they rested on paper towels.

To make a long story short, I threw the fries in a cast iron skillet, topped them with the meat mixture and then with shredded cheddar. I popped the whole thing under the broiler until the cheese was melted. Then I topped the whole deal with tomatoes and dill relish.

I liked it, but my son loved it.

He called this dish, “a miracle.”
