I like going to ZZ’s Produce even though it is far out of the way.
Last time I went, it was crowded. I didn’t feel like sticking around until I saw them.
Rambutan.
So I bought a few of them and took them home.
They reminded me of peeled grapes in texture and tasted mildly melon-like. They also tasted a bit like a lychee candy I used to buy. Overall, I am glad that I procured and sampled this fruit, but will not go out of my way to track them down in the future.
You should try them fresh in their native land. Malaysia/Indonesia or Thailand.
it is much-much bertter looking, and tastes fresher..
It’s seasonal, and July would be the best time to come down and try loads of them!.
In Malaysia, it is sold at RM 4 (roughhly US $1) per kilogram.
