\"\"Almost on a whim, I decided to take a road trip with my son. I had found myself Googling directions to the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum day after day when it occurred to me that I could just go there, and make a bigger trip out of it.<\/p>\n

Road trips are one of the things that I had in mind for something I would do with my kids back when I thought that I would have more than one. Thinking about this made me think about the once annual trips that my family would make to Louisiana to visit relatives. However, those trips were four people trips, not one parent and one child trips. There were two adults to split the driving and two kids in the back seat. This, could have been a different beast. Living the dream could have killed the dream. <\/p>\n

Luckily, that didn’t happen.<\/p>\n

Instead, Alex turned out to be a great traveler. I had cooked up all of these entertaining tricks to bust out during the trip and most of them remain untouched because I didn’t need to bust them out. (Looks like I got an early start on Christmas shopping).<\/p>\n

We spent 7 days on the road.  We passed through 8 states (Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana). We spent the night in a tent in Kentucky. We had barbecue in Memphis and tacos in Texas.  We visited the Hermitage<\/a>, the Corvette Museum<\/a>, Graceland<\/a>, Dinosaur World<\/a>, a flea market, Parkers Crossroads<\/a>, the LBJ Library and Museum<\/a>, and the Bill Clinton Library<\/a>. I hope that this turns out to be one of those things that he remembers fondly in the future.<\/p>\n

In the meanwhile, I’d better upload the rest of the photos to FLICKR and write captions for them while I still remember everything.<\/p>\n

I find myself thinking about the next trip.<\/p>\n
