I love, love, love summer, and want to make sure that I don&#8217;t spend the years waiting and pining for summer and then ignoring what is nice about the other seasons. One thing that I like about the fall season is the abundance of pumpkin-related treats.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m serious. I have to stay out of Trader Joe&#8217;s right now. If I don&#8217;t, I will fill a basket with pumpkin ice cream, and pumpkin macarons. My lips will be perpetually stained with pumpkin spiced something or other.&nbsp;I will ingest nothing of any nutritional value until the new year if I go in there.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That is not to say that I whipped up something of nutritional value. No, I decided to play with the pumpkin pie idea by making blondies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sherlonya.net\/blog\/archives\/2984\/pumpkinblondiepn\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2985\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"pumpkinblondiepn\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sherlonya.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/pumpkinblondiepn.jpg?resize=500%2C333&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used a recipe from <a href=\"https:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/blog\/2006\/11\/blondies-for-a-blondie\/\">Smitten Kitchen<\/a> which was adapted from a Mark Bittman recipe. My blondie recipe was spiked with a shot of bourbon and kissed by a cup of toasted cashews. Where&#8217;s the pumpkin pie? It is swirled over the top of this blondie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is not the kind of thing that should be stored in plain sight if you have a pumpkin pie problem. That would be dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>Dangerously tasty.<\/p>\n    <div class=\"hrecipe blog-yumprint-recipe blog-yumprint-standard \" yumprintrecipe=\"dq5t\" itemscope itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/Recipe\">\t<div class=\"fn blog-yumprint-recipe-title\" itemprop=\"name\">Pumpkin Pie Blondies<\/div>\t<div class=\"published blog-yumprint-recipe-published\" itemprop=\"datePublished\">2013-11-19 16:55:55<\/div>\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-header\">\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-save blog-yumprint-action\"><a href=\"http:\/\/yumprint.com\/app\/object\/dq5t\">Save Recipe<\/a><\/div>\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-print blog-yumprint-action\">Print<\/div>\t<\/div>\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-spacer\"><\/div>\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-recipe-contents\">\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-section\" yumprintsection=\"0\">\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-subheader\">Blondie<\/div>\t\t\t<div class='ingredients'>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"0\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">8 tablespoons butter, melted<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 cup  packed brown sugar<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 large egg<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 teaspoon vanilla<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 shot bourbon<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"5\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">Pinch salt<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"6\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 cup  plus 1 tablespoon<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"7\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">all-purpose flour<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"8\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 cup toasted cashews<\/div>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-ingredient-section\" yumprintsection=\"1\">\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-subheader\">Pumpkin pie topping<\/div>\t\t\t<div class='ingredients'>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"0\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">2 eggs<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 15 oz can pumpkin puree<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1 teaspoon cinnamon<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/2 teaspoon powdered ginger<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">1\/4 teaspoon allspice<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"5\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">pinch cardamom<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredient blog-yumprint-ingredient-item\" yumprintitem=\"6\" itemprop=\"ingredients\">pinch black pepper<\/div>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-section\" yumprintsection=\"2\">\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-subheader\">Instructions<\/div>\t\t\t<div class=\"instructions\" itemprop=\"recipeInstructions\">\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"0\">Preheat oven to 350 degrees.<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\">Butter a pie plate or 8x8 pan<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\">Mix melted butter with brown sugar, beat until smooth. Beat in one egg and then vanilla and bourbon.<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\">Add salt, stir in flour. Mix in toasted cashews.<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\">Pour into prepared pan.<\/div>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-section\" yumprintsection=\"3\">\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-subheader\">Prepare the pumpkin pie topping<\/div>\t\t\t<div class=\"instructions\" itemprop=\"recipeInstructions\">\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"0\">Mix the pumpkin pie ingredients thoroughly.<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\">Measure out 3\/4 cup.<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\">Spread the 3\/4 cup pumpkin mixture over the blondie mixture, swirling the two together with a knife.<\/div>\t\t\t\t<div class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\">Bake 25 minutes, or until set in the middle.
