Audiobooks have been a part of my life for many years now.<\/p>\n

I’m not one of those people who loved hearing teachers read from books in classrooms. That just wasn’t my thing. In that context, my mind wandered and I would find myself doing things like picking at the carpet. Later, I began to loathe hearing others read aloud. This comes directly from school when teachers would have less-than-smooth readers reading large swaths of text. (Hey, I know we learn by doing, but we’re talking about young me here….)<\/p>\n

It wasn’t until I was in library school taking a children’s media class that I started to listen to audiobooks. You see, at the time I was working full-time, taking a full load of classes, and single momming my son. Oh, did I mention that school was about an hour away. I needed to get to get more bang from some of those hours.<\/p>\n

So, I started listening to the kids books I needed to get through for class. Through this I learned that listening to books is a different skill than reading them.<\/p>\n

Now, when Alex and I hit the road for a long trip, we pack some audiobooks.<\/p>\n

Last time Alex and I took a trip, both of us endured a book that we thought the other was enjoying. I would like to avoid that in the future. I also want to remember what each of us thought about the books that we experienced together.<\/p>\n

So, I made these cards for both of us to record our star reviews for these books.<\/p>\n
