Sometimes you go into the store not with a recipe in mind, but a concept. That’s what happened when I wanted to make cheeseburger pizza. I know how to make pizza dough and that it isn’t terribly time-consuming and I had an idea for how I wanted the flavors to come together.
So, I picked up a few things. Tomato sauce, cheddar cheese and ground beef. I knew that I had the other ingredients I needed at home: onion, mustard and pickles. Actually, I thought that I had pickle slices, but it turns out that I had pizza relish.
To put this together, I spread the dough out, then covered it with a layer of pizza sauce. Once I did that, I dotted the pizza with mustard and pizza relish. Next, I sprinkled cheese over the pizza. I cooked the ground beef with onion, salt and pepper and drained it. Then I spread it over the pizza. I brushed the edge of the pizza dough with olive oil, then cooked the pizza in a 500 degree oven for around 16 minutes or so.
It was a success. Pretty fast, pretty easy and 10-year-old approved!
