The thing about vowing to dedicate a year to creativity is to find the time for it. Today was one of those days when time was more scarce than it should be. It was the kind of day when you just have to make the decision at the beginning of the day that you are going to battle through the day and that the day is going to be good. Without the winning attitude starting from the block, a day like this could unravel quickly into the kind that you want no record of. I spent the day mildly double-booked and ended with curriculum night at Alex’s school. Since he was out late, he fell asleep on the way home meaning that the nighttime shower was nixed and would have to come in the morning. Waking him up at that point was out of the question. Last night, when I thought he was taking a shower, I peeked in the bathroom to check on him and found this:
In addition, tomorrow is Bagel Day at school which means that you have to get there early, or sadly tell your child that there are no more bagels and that he’s going to be a social outcast for the day. So, I prepared everything possible tonight so that I can run the get-ready ship with maritime precision.
So, I got around to packing lunch. I opened the fridge and found nothing obvious. This is where I had to get creative. Let’s just say that tomorrow, I will know what happens when you nestle lemon and garlic-sauteed zuchinni on a bed of quinoa and pair it with a very small side of leftover green bean salad. Uh, we’ll also see what kind of breakfast rye berries cooked in a slow cooker with cinnamon and dried fruit makes. Bon appetit?
