2013 was so much better than 2012.
So. Much. Better.
Back in February, I finished my goal to read a biography of each US president. I was thrilled! But then I wondered how I would get my president fix. So, I started baking cupcakes in their honor. This year I was able to bake a cupcake honoring just over half of the presidents over at Head of State Cakes.
I also started a new project called Just Like a Pear where I have a little fun with the overlap between the things that we say about food and the things that we say about people.
I did go on a little tangent when the second Anthony Weiner/Carlos Danger thing happened. I got sucked in for a bit, but pulled myself away before I made too many sculptures. However, it did provide the opportunity to have a first conversation with my son about what’s appropriate and what’s not via text.
Alex got in on some of the project action this year and started working on a little comic that combines his interest in wizards with my interest in cupcakes.
The highlight of my year was the road trip that I took with Alex. We drove all the way down to Austin, TX and back. I still can’t believe that we did that sometimes. I am so glad that we did though.
I cooked a decent amount, though not as much as I’d have liked.
All-in-all, it was a good year. Having a rough one the year before makes me appreciate it.
